Where to Eat in Marrakech With Kids
Figuring out where to eat in Marrakech with kids can feel overwhelming when the medina is a maze of alleys and every doorway hides something new. We ate our way across the city as a family of four, from palace courtyards to a tiny non-profit kitchen, and these are the spots that were worth it. Some are fancy, some are humble, and all of them worked with our girls in tow. Here is where we loved to eat, plus the honest details on what our kids actually put in their mouths.
Where to Eat in Marrakech With Kids: Our Favorite Restaurants
Batcha Coffee
This is more than just coffee, Batcha is an experience. With a full dining menu to accompany to more than 200 coffees they have available to order, I promise, you will not leave hungry. This is at the top of our list for best restaurants in Marrakech!
The restaurant is also part of a museum, the beautifully restored royal palace of Dar el Batcha, where you can see extraordinary tile work, wood carved doors, stained glass, artifacts and a serene citrus filled garden. It is possibly the most insta-worthy spot in the medina (just my small opinion). The dining experience is exquisite, you will feel like royalty as the staff dotes on your every need while bringing you delectable treats. The truffle scrambled eggs really hit the spot, but the churros are absolutely not to be missed! We ended up with 4 orders of churros by the end of the meal because we simply could not get enough! We ordered so many things and in such a royal setting, I was surprised to see our bill was only the equivalent of $48 US dollars. If we make it back to Marrakech, this will probably be my first stop for breakfast or lunch! They also have a location in Singapore, so if you’re in the neighborhood…

Café Des Épices
Café Des Épices is a hip little spot in spice square with all the ambiance. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. Options ranging from a beldi breakfast, to burgers, to tajines. The rooftop terrace offers beautiful views, the ground floor tables overlook spice square and the middle floor offers indoor seating for times of less desirable weather.

This spot definitely caters to the westerner but the food was straightforward and mocktails were refreshing. I think a pretty easy place to find something for the kids as well, even if it is just breads and fresh fruit. While it may seem like a low-key joint, according to several online resources, the likes of Sylvester Stallone, Elle Fanning, and Cameron Diaz have eaten here! If chill vibes is what you are looking for then this is one of the best restaurants in Marrakech.

Kabana: Rooftop Food & Cocktails
You read that right, yes, Kabana serves alcohol! Not so easy to come by in Morocco, this bustling rooftop restaurant offers a full bar with signature cocktails. The food was equally delightful and the ambiance was definitely chic with the average patron dressed as though they walked off Miami beach (We were there in June, I wouldn’t expect skimpy clothes in the winter). It was a bit of a shock to see after walking the streets where most everyone is fully covered, even when it is sweltering hot.
The prices here were a bit more in line with what you might expect from a mid-range restaurant in the states, quite a bit more expensive than your average eatery in Morocco. Viona got to indulge on her favorite meal (salmon nigiri) and our three year old was content filling herself with French fries (which became the go to food throughout Morocco for her). While this place isn’t authentic Moroccan fair, it was a refreshing break from the tajines!

Best spots in Gueliz (the newer part of the city)…
Amal Women’s Training Center, Guéliz
This is a real gem! If you are looking for an authentic home cooked Moroccan meal, this is one of the best restaurants in Marrakech, Known by the locals and savvy travelers, this restaurant is a non-profit supporting and training disadvantaged women. It is arguably one of the better home cooked meals you can experience in Marrakech and unbelievably affordable. We enjoyed appetizers, entrees and dessert, for a family of four, and it was around $30 US dollars.
Not only was every single item we ordered delicious, it is also supporting a wonderful cause. The girls serving us and working in the kitchen were incredibly kind and it was an overall highlight dining experience. Do your stomach and the cause a favor, and make sure to eat here for at least one meal!

If you are looking for a break from Moroccan fair and want a high-quality meal that will not disappoint, then this is one of the best restaurants in Marrakech! Did I mention they also have alcohol here? Happy hubby! The chef uses the freshest ingredients and highlights them in an uncomplicated way that make your tastebuds jump for joy. The menu featured plates from all around the world. We enjoyed dishes from hummus to schnitzel and each were unique and more modern than the traditional versions. They made fresh homemade pasta for the girls and of course our youngest went straight for the cheese platter! The dining room is modern and clean, and the staff friendly.

Tips for Eating Out in Marrakech With Kids
A few small things made eating out in Marrakech with kids so much easier. Moroccan dinners run late, so we ate our big restaurant meals on the early side, around 6:30, before anyone melted down. Portions are generous and most menus have plain bread, couscous, and grilled chicken or kefta that even picky eaters will touch, so we rarely needed a separate kids menu. Mint tea shows up at almost every table, and the pouring ritual kept our girls entertained more than once. Rooftop restaurants are worth the climb for the views, just check for railings if you are traveling with a toddler.
