Where to Eat in Paris With Kids: Our Neighborhood Picks
Wondering where to eat in Paris with kids? There are far too many amazing places to dine in Paris, from affordable to splurge worthy! We mostly focused on the Saint-Germain and Latin Quarter neighborhoods as that is where our apartment was. With the littles, it was easier to keep things walkable. That said there was SO much good food close by! I will keep to our favorites as to not overwhelm, and if you find yourself in these neighborhoods, or take our advice to make one of these neighborhoods your home base for your visit, these are great options to delight your mouth and tummy! So here is our list of the best restaurants in Paris…
Oktobre

Oktobre was probably our favorite Parisian culinary experiences of our most recent visit. We opted for their prix fixe lunch menu since we have young kids, and sometimes lunch can be a more casual experience in general. I called ahead to make a reservation and we showed up soaking wet (it was pouring outside) with two small children and a stroller of which there was seemingly nowhere to put. Even though we looked like a hot mess, we were greeted with such hospitality and kindness at this Michelin guide recognized restaurant. The server was gracious in accommodating the kids as much as the menu would allow.
Now, for the food!!! The first course was three small dishes, served at the same time. All three were astounding and I wanted to have that course again for the rest of the trip!

The three items included a beef tartare, a curry mushroom soup and crudo (raw fish). They were all very different flavors but still complimented each other so well!

The main course was served next and you had an option between 4 or 5 choices. Dawson and I ordered different things so we could try each others. I went for the pasta option and Dawson the fish…

Last was dessert. You can opt to skip dessert for a lesser price but what crazy person would do that?!? Both were outstanding and I regrettably shared them with the kids and had to fight for my fair share.

The cost for zors-d’oeuvres, main course and dessert was just 36 Euro! An absolute steal for the portion and quality! Especially considering this restaurant is mentioned in the Michelin guide. Their sister restaurant, the original restaurant, Ze Kitchen Galerie, holds one Michelin star. We also enjoyed a lunch there so read on!
25 Rue des Grands Augustins, 75006 Paris, France
Ze Kitchen Galerie

This Michelin star restaurant serves both lunch and dinner, which gave us the opportunity to go with the kids for lunch and not feel the pressure of hoping our three year old would behave during an intimate dinner experience for the rest of the dining room. The cost of lunch here was a bit more than the KGB but still only 48 Euro for three courses. In my opinion another fabulous deal, for a 3-course Michelin star meal that was superb and adventurous!
Our first course came out promptly. This restaurant operated flawlessly like a well oiled machine. The staff was very kind, even when our three year old did not want to stay in her seat…

Main courses…the meat was perfectly cooked (even though they had to keep it under the warmer while Dawson was stuck changing a poopy diaper in the restroom!!!) and the sauces, don’t even get me started!

This was probably the most intriguing dessert I have ever had. It was sweet and spicy (that’s wasabi ice cream!) but the spice wasn’t prominent, more of a linger in the background while the focus was certainly on the sweetness of the strawberries and crunchy chocolate goodness. I would go back just for this dessert!

They even accommodated making a simple white fish dish with potatoes for Viona. Which we greatly appreciated. She is a pretty adventurous eater but sometimes she just wants something simple. Don’t we all?

Kodawari Ramen

For us, it’s always about the ramen culture! When does ramen not hit the spot? This place was possibly the best ramen we have had outside of Japan. We returned for a total of three meals during this visit because it was just that good! Ye be warned, this place is popular. Even during covid, when we were practically the only tourists in the country, there was still a 1-2 hour wait to get in during peak hours. They do not take reservations. My suggestion is to go for a late lunch or early dinner so you don’t have to wait more than 10 minutes. That said, it really is worth the wait!

The interior decor and vibes here really transport you to Tokyo. They did a great job creating the feeling of eating in a small ramen shop in Tokyo station. Even the background noise is subway trains and sounds of people talking on a platform. I realize that may sound gimmicky, but since the ramen is THAT good, it feels less gimmicky and more authentic.

Do yourself a favor and take a break from the Parisian food for some delicious ramen at one of the best restaurants in Paris! (at least in our humble opinion)

A. Lacroix Pâtissier

This is the perfect place for a late breakfast or lunch. Directly across the street from the Seine with a view of Notre-Dame, this small pâtissier offers up light fair, homemade pastries, coffee and even ice cream. I was a little sad we discovered this place towards the end of our visit so we only ate here twice, but I certainly would have eaten here more had I found it sooner!
They have a nice variety of Tartine’s (similar to an open faced sandwich) that were very affordable, filling and packed with flavor!

Their desserts are all made on site and are works of art! As you may expect this always to be the case in Paris, I discovered some places sell pastries that are not made in house. A. Lacroix Pâtissier’s chef creates these and only makes a limited amount daily, so get there early if you want a good selection!

The kids had no problem destroying the masterpiece pastries!

Again if you are looking for really great, affordable fair with a view of Notre-Dame, look no further!

HÉBÉ

This is a great place, with an intimate dining room offering up excellent fair in a casual manner. Reservations are a must. As quaint as this place is, it is popular! It also won’t break the budget for the quality of food you would expect from a much more expensive restaurant. That’s why Paris is a foodie paradise!! There is too much competition of fantastic restaurants so they feel far more affordable than back in the states.
The starters course was artistically presented and equally yummy.

For the main course, surprise surprise, Dawson opted for the beef (eye roll), and I went for the gnocchi. No joke these were the best gnocchi’s I have ever indulged on and that includes our visit to Italy. They where perfectly crispy on the the outside and just melted in your mouth. Kudos to the chef!

Dessert consisted of another fun adventure! With creamy dark chocolate, praline and black sesame ice cream, it was another balance of sweet and savory that oh so hit the spot!

HÉBÉ’s chef Michel Portos is a two Michelin-star chef and was awarded Chef of the Year in 2012. Basically, he knows is way around the kitchen and how to make your tummy very happy!
The service here was also great and accommodated the children. Kaida really liked the watermelon amuse bouche (the adult version was boozy by the way!), so the server kept requesting more from the kitchen throughout the dinner for her. She was very happy.

Jozi Café

This popular breakfast joint is a little off the beaten path but has a great view of the Pantheon! There was a decent wait to get a table but there was plenty of room for the kids to stroll up and down the sidewalks while we waited. The food was more western, less European style. The staff was friendly, the cost fair, and the food was good.

If you are staying in this area and find yourself craving some good old pancakes for breakfast, this is your spot!

Ayadi

This was the surprise of the trip, for me anyhow. I had never tried Syrian food before. After reading the rave reviews and the fact that is was a few blocks away, I just had to try it! It actually worked out perfect to grab it as take out after a long day at Disneyland Paris (which you can read all about here) to enjoy in the comfort of our apartment.
The food was incredibly flavorful! I recommend the Fatteh bowl with lamb. We also had the Fatteh with chicken. I would eat both again in a heartbeat! The owner also makes fresh juice daily so we gave that a whirl and it was delightful!

These bowls have me on a hunt for more Syrian food! Sadly there is non near where I live, but hopefully on an adventure in the near future, I should be so lucky!

46 and 3rd

Looking for some whimsy breakfast?! 46 and 3rd had some hardy options that will fill your tummy and delight your tastebuds with dishes like croquettes bacon and eggs topped with cinnamon popcorn and pepitas. It is fun and random, but delicious, so who cares!!

The look on Viona’s face to find popcorn on her pancakes!!! A win!

This restaurant was out of our hood but worth taking a taxi over to explore a new area before heading to see some sights on the other side of the Seine.

Boulangerie Eric Kayser

Quick bakery breakfasts are great, especially on your way to the zoo! There are so many bakeries to choose from. Eric Kayser has a nice variety of fresh breads, pastries and things like quiche and sorts.

We always get a sampling of goodies and share! I have a knack for over ordering but how can you resist when all of these delectable items are in front of you!

And the look on your kids face before they dive into a pastry…priceless!

Some Odds and Ends…
Amorino Buci
Because who doesn’t want to eat an ice cream so artfully displayed on your cone!?

The ice cream is delicious and they have some crazy elaborate options available, but we went with a simple 1 or 2 flavor cone. Truth be said, we went to a shop in Budapest that does the same flower ice cream look and that one was far superior in presentation. Either way, the ice cream is good and everyone in your party will thinks it’s fun.

In the midst of summer, it is a welcome treat.

Patrick Roger

There are many chocolatiers around Paris, but my favorite has always been Patrick Roger. The presentation is always the best, clean and simple. They make fabulous gifts (and travel well on the airplane because the packaging is super sturdy) and the chocolate is astounding. They always have a large chocolate sculpture in the window. The last time we were in Paris it was a hippopotamus. This time…a giant BOOB! Viona was stoked to have her picture taken with it!

Thats my kid!

Ladurée

You can’t visit Paris and not try a macaron! Ladurée is possibly one of the most recognizable shops around Paris for their intricate design esthetic and green bags you see people carrying around. Their shops are always instagram worthy. And while macarons can certainly be found cheaper around the city, you might as well try the creme de la creme!

Since we were already visiting the Louvre, we hit the Ladurée shop in the Carrousel du Louvre (underground shopping mall next to the Louvre) but there are many shops around the city.

Cheese Shop!

Sometimes it’s okay to eat in, and I love me a good picnic style lunch! This is my favorite cheese shop in Paris and it was just three blocks from our apartment this visit! Needless to say I lack control around cheese but brought home a lovely (and slightly stinky) selection of cheeses and charcuterie for the family. We got two lunches out of my haul.

The staff here is quite friendly and spoke fairly good english to help me with my selection. But honestly I pretty much just trusted them to put together a nice sampling for me that would be a little kid friendly. They did a fantastic job!

There is also a charcuterie shop right next door to the cheese shop making it a great one stop round up!

Picnic lunch is served!!!

Crepes…

Another not to miss food while in Paris is the Crepe. You will find stalls all over the city slinging crepes, so take your pick! Nutella is one of the more popular toppings for sweet crepes but you get to mix and match your fillings as preferred. They make a great mid day or late night snack, in my opinion.
